Freeman, the chairman and co-founder of real estate business Freeman Webb Co., has publicly taken aim at the chamber since at least his unsuccessful campaign for mayor of Nashville in 2015. Specifically, Freeman has criticized the chamber for a regional focus and recruiting companies to locations outside of Davidson County — calling its leadership “disengaged and out-of-touch.”
