Gov. Lee signs bill into law erasing half of Metro Council’s 40 seats

The bill is the first in a slate of legislation aimed at Nashville to hit the finish line and become law, a string of bills widely seen as retribution for Metro Council’s vote last summer to reject a bid to host the Republican National Convention. That local vote came six months after the Republican supermajority in the state General Assembly divided Nashville into three congressional districts, for the first time in the city’s history.
