Government data show that 5.5% of the total workforce in Tennessee belongs to a union. That’s barely half the U.S. rate, which has fallen to an all-time low. Last fall, by a more than 2-to-1 margin, Tennessee voters chose to add right-to-work provisions into the state Constitution.
